Fourth Heads of Health Meeting 
Suva, Fiji I 27-28 April, 2016  


The meeting was staged by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC), in partnership with the Australia Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFAT), the World Bank (WB) and the World Health Organization (WHO).


​The meeting endorsed a list of thematic indicators (core, complimentary and optional) for the framework and tasked the Pacific Community (SPC) and WHO to progress the framework.


​The Heads of Health meeting also noted progress in the implementation of the Pacific Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Roadmap but recognised the need for further action to effectively tackle the NCD crisis in the region, which includes the acceleration of steps to tackle tobacco use, and the utilisation of taxes to support behavioural change.

Second Heads of Health Meeting 
Nadi, Fiji I 29-30 April, 2014  

The Heads of Health meeting was held on 29-30 April 2014 at the Sheraton Fiji Resort in Denarau, Nadi, Fiji. The meeting was held in conjunction with two other meetings: a Strengthening Specialised Clinical Services in the Pacific (SSCSiP) Stakeholder Reference Group (SRG) meeting (the day before) and a UNFPA meeting titled ‘Achieving Universal Access to Reproductive Health, including Family Planning Services and Commodities in the Pacific’ (the two following days). The results of the Heads of Health meeting, which included Pacific Chief Executive Officers of Health, Directors of Health and Permanent Secretaries of Health, would feed into the joint Forum Economic Ministers Meeting (FEMM) and Pacific Health Ministers Meeting (PHMM) to be held in Honiara, Solomon Islands during 9-11 July 2014.

Third Heads of Health Meeting 
Suva, Fiji I 18-19 February, 2015  


​Two decades after the Healthy Island Vision was born, senior health officials from 21 Pacific countries and territories will gathered in Suva, Fiji between 18-19 February to examine progress with its monitoring and implementation, and recommend next steps. The preparatory meeting set the stage for the Pacific Health Ministers Meeting held in April, 2015.

Participants at the Third Pacific Heads of Health Meeting also reviewed the Non-Communicable Diseases Roadmap and the post-2015 Pacific Health Agenda, along with a range of other issues, such as tobacco control, sugar-sweetened drinks, reducing the avoidable disease burden, and monitoring and evaluation.
